Abstract

Innovation doesn’t happen all at once—it unfolds in stages, across many organizations, and often in ways that are difficult to observe using traditional tools like patents or surveys. In today’s digital world, organizations leave behind rich traces of their work and ideas on the web. New advances in artificial intelligence (AI) now make it possible to gather and make sense of this vast online information.

This presentation introduces a new approach to studying innovation by using AI to analyze organizational websites. It explores how this method can reveal emerging technologies, track sustainability practices, and map how companies and regions are connected. Through real-world examples, the session will demonstrate how this approach can help us better understand how innovation spreads—and how we can use that knowledge to shape smarter strategies and policies.
